A sketch helps artists capture their ideas, observations, and thoughts into a design.

Urban sketching essentially is an artistic movement across the globe today. It means sketching on location. Rather than drawing from reference material, such as photos, inside a studio or house, urban sketching is sketching from life on location. There are some general rules in Urban Sketching, such as:
- Draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
- Drawings tell the story of the surroundings, places we live and where we travel.
- Drawings are a record of time and place.
- They should be truthful to the scenes we witness.
- Use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
- Show the world, one drawing at a time.
This is a single line drawing practice.
