Urban sketching essentially is an artistic movement across the globe today. It means sketching on location. Rather than drawing from reference material, such as photos, inside a studio or house, urban sketching is sketching from life on location. There are some general rules in Urban Sketching, such as:

1. Draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Drawings tell the story of the surroundings, places we live and where we travel.
3. Drawings are a record of time and place.
4. They should be truthful to the scenes we witness.
5. Use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. Show the world, one drawing at a time.
